Cob house workshop

2010 will be the 6-th year, when juured.ee will run the cob workshop for self builders.
It will take place in Estonia (South Estonia), near the Obinitsa.
Dates: July 24-30, 2010
During the course we will build a part of small cottage.
Topics: Foundation, Roof, Materials and where to find them (clay, sand, straw), Cob mixing and different mixes, plastering (how to make lime plaster and clay plaster), philosophical background, slide show and a lot of practical building. This course covers both - cob and cob-strawbale (bale-cob) sandwich technique.
Price 61 EUR (950 EEK) , includes food (more vegeterian).

The course main language is Estonian but we summarize it in English if needed. All instructors understand English.


Registration deposit is 400 EEK (26 EUR).

Teachers/instructors:
Jaanus Viese, who has studied cob building during  Ianto Evans and Linda Smiley  different workshops at Cob Cottage Company. Jaanus has learned plastering and finishing from Bill and Athena Steen, look at www.caneloproject.com. Jaanus has run cob and bale-cob workshops since year 2004.
Elle Kuusik has built with cob many years. She has built herself cob glass-house and small cottage.
Sven Aluste is excpert in strawbale building. Sven lives in strawbale house and he will teach us how to manage with strawbales (cutting etc).
Marko Kikas has a lot of experience with natural plasters and light clay bulidings. He will teach us how to mix different natural plasters (caly, lime, manure etc).
